Disney character dining review - Ohana Breakfast

Having breakfast with Lilo & Stitch
The Ohana breakfast is a little different Disney character dining experience in that it is not the regular serve yourself buffet style meal like The Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey’s, it’s more “family style”, where a large platter of food is brought for your table to share.
The Ohana Disney character dining breakfast experience starts off with your family getting Hawaiian leis when you check in, and then a family portrait near the entrance to the restaurant that you can purchase separately. Your host then leads you to your table and grabs you a bowl of delicious Hawaiian bread, and tells you about how the restaurant works overall. When you get to your table, you are introduced to your waiter or waitress, and they give you a glass of juice, which I believe is some type of a mixture of something and pineapple juice (but it is excellent!). You can order other non alcoholic beverages, and your server will be happy to bring them out to you.
For the regular breakfast, a platter of miscellaneous breakfast items is brought to you, and often more than one tray is given to each table, depending on the size of your party. At breakfast, the traditional scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage are on the platter, but there is also a unique hash brown potato type dish that it out of this world! It’s a little bit spicy, just a touch, but it is very, very good! Brought separately are the Mickey waffles that makes Disney breakfasts famous, and you can have any of these items replenished at your request.
The thing about all Disney character dining experiences that make them so special are the characters, and Ohana is no different. For some reason, the flyers posted around the Polynesian talk about the Ohana meal starring Mickey Mouse, which is great, but to me and my family, it’s Lilo and Stitch who steal the show! Some of the characters rotate in and out of the experience, but for us, it was Mickey, Pluto, Lilo, and Stitch. Stitch behaves in typical Stitch fashion, and has been known to lick the heads of children or even sneeze on your food! But don’t worry, parents, it’s not real licks or sneezes!
There is a Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride parade with all the characters where maracas are passed out to the children, and the entire event is a great time! We had trouble convincing our five year old daughter to join in on the festivities, even after I pointed out that we could follow poor Lilo, who only had one little girl walking behind her, whereas Stitch, Pluto and Mickey all had at least a dozen children in their conga line.
To make the best of your Ohana breakfast, make sure that you take your camera, video camera, autograph book, and pen, and have them all ready for when the characters come. The characters rotate only once during each meal sitting, as the restaurant staggers their reservations so that they essentially do one “show” for each block of reservation times.
The total price of the Ohana Disney character dining breakfast for my family of three was $111.11, which is about the average for a Disney character dining experiences. I would highly recommend Ohana at the Polynesian Resort for any Disney character meal, breakfast or otherwise, but make sure to make reservations in advance by calling 407-WDW-DINE, which is one of the tips that you can find on the Disney tips iphone app now available in the itunes store. Also, make sure to bring your camera and your appetite, and be ready for a great time!
